Founded in 1928 in the Swiss Jura, Blita has dedicated nearly a century to the pursuit of horological perfection. Our story is one of quiet determination, precision engineering, and an unwavering commitment to the art of watchmaking.
The story of Blita started with Boillat Freres SA, an expert maker of watch components in its early history, which was based in Les Breuleux, the motherland of watchmaking. The Company gradually diversified its assembling business to wristwatches, pocket watches, and those pocket watches with professional features such as built-in cylinders and escapement, which were a hit in the 19th Century. In the 1940's, the Company introduced anti-magnetic watches, which were specially designed to overcome the magnetic forces brought along by the electrification era. The technology greatly increased the accuracy of the timekeepers by diminishing the average daily error rate. Possessing the expertise in watch component manufacturing and assembling for over half a century, Boillat Freres SA was sufficiently sophisticated to give birth to Blita, its own brand, in 1928.
In the beginning of its brand life, Blita became known for its mechanical watches. In the 70s, it took innovative steps with various new shapes for the watchcases. The collection was so wonderful that watch lovers in the Far East welcomed it. Blita, thus then, was introduced to the Asia Pacific markets. Going beyond generations and still being one of those brands attracting hot bidding in online auctions, Blita has proven its undeniable charisma.
In the past 30 years, Blita remained calm in a more static period of the brand life cycle. Until the present millennium, Blita experienced a twist in destiny of its life after being deeply cherished by a legendary jeweler for its long history and its Swiss genesis. Being famous for his powerful jewellery branding strategy, the entrepreneur has established a house brand, with its reputation overwhelming those mature brands with histories for over a half century, within only three-year’s time. His keen determination in devoting his fame and expertise in fostering Blita, giving it a new life and creating a new watch legend.
